              • KATE LINDEN
                ARTIST

                I am a painter, and a Londoner.

I like to paint ordinary people with extraordinary lives many of which are my family and friends.

I’m interested in people who break the moulds of society’s expectations; often women, but not exclusively, who go without public recognition and who I think should be celebrated.

My work is personal and emotionally engaged with an empathy for people who face everyday and not so everyday challenges.

                "Occupied"
                Graduation Show Series 2022

Occupied is a series of self-portraits set within the confined space of my home toilet—Captioning different moments of solace.

A toilet is a place that almost everyone, every day goes to at least once, Consciously or unconsciously it’s space where we check our physical and mental well-being, it's a space where we quite literally relieve ourselves and a space everyone has probably sought solace and refuge from something or someone, at some point in their lives

My series of portraits is an honest representation of me in those moments of solace, I hope the viewer can relate to this and think about how the 2 empty toilets could give them refuge for their own private moments
